Remembering Professor Michael Steiner
It is with great sadness that we inform you that Professor Dr Michael Steiner passed away on 5 November 2022.
Michael was a central figure in European neutron scattering for several decades. His research in magnetism using neutrons led naturally on to the development of extreme sample environments, culminating in the unique high field facility at the BER II reactor. He was director of the Berlin Neutron Scattering Centre (BENSC) and then the scientific director of the Hahn Meitner Institute (now Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin). Michael was also chair of the European Neutron Scattering Association for several years.
He will be greatly missed.
